Store ManagerRuns a single location under the supervision of a Group Manager.
Every candidate for a store position must be passionate about helping pets and about serving customers and co-workers. We demand that our managers themselves provide legendary customer service and that they inspire their co-workers to do the same. No specific experience or education is required. However, we are only interested in hiring truly caring and compassionate people who sincerely share our values and have the vision, discipline, desire, drive, and interpersonal skills required for leading and managing such an operation. Additionally, successful candidates will demonstrate that they can think quantitatively, manage for specific sales outcomes, and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. A high degree of self-awareness and self-control, a strong achievement drive, empathy, and good social skills are essential for success in our company. Of course, retail experience and/or pet expertise would be advantageous.
There is a one-week training course held at the Corporate HQ that must be completed by the third month of employment. All managers are also required to attend a monthly leadership-training seminar. In addition, we regularly hold advanced pet and pet product-training courses that you are required to attend as well as occasional in-store training sessions.
Store Manager candidates are initially given a six-month guaranteed salary commensurate with our assessment of qualifications as described above. The hourly training wage may range from $17.00-$18.22, depending on your qualifications and where we expect to place you (annual equivalent of $42,000 – 45,000 based on a 45-hour week.) If you satisfactorily complete the training period (usually 3-6 months) and are promoted to Store Manager, you may expect annual compensation in the range of $45,000- $55,000. Your actual pay will depend on store volume and profitability and the attainment of specific monthly sales goals. Compensation may vary significantly from month-to-month according to how many goals are attained. If you are not comfortable working on an incentive basis, this may not be the right position for you. Pay raises are achieved through sales growth, sales goal achievement, transfer to a higher volume store, and/or promotion.
