Wash your dog, help the police

To help the Walnut Creek Police Department add another four-legged officer to its force, Pet Food Express will hold a fundraiser this weekend.

Visit the Pet Food Express in Walnut Creek on June 18 or 19 and buy a self-service pet wash for $15. The dog wash does not necessarily have to be used on the date of purchase. All $15 will go directly to the Walnut Creek Police Department; the company hopes to raise up to $10,000 this weekend.

The cost for a new K9 is $20,000, and Pet Food Express officials say they will hold another fundraiser, if necessary, to help fund the additional unit. The store is located at 1388 S. California Blvd. in Walnut Creek.
