Bay Area-based Pet Food Express has opened its fi rst store in the Sacramento area at Loehmann’s Plaza, and will open an additional store at Fountains in Roseville in October.

At the store’s opening on Sept. 17 and 18, several local pet adoption groups gathered for free self-service pet washes (solar heated and powered, no less!).

Pet Food Express is owned by two entrepreneurs in the Bay Area, and they give back about $1 million a year to pet rescues and shelters.

Additionally, the company plans to open the fi rst satellite cat adoption center for a public shelter in the region at the Fountains store, in partnership with Placer SPCA.

Pet Food Express, based in Oakland, is one of the largest regional pet food supply companies and is growing rapidly (40 percent in the past fi ve years). It’s also an industry leader in green as well as holistic/ organic products.
