Tough Police Dog Gets Bulletproof Vest

April 16, 2011

NBC Bay Area, Mike Anderson

Remember that Antioch police dog that was wounded in a shootout last August?

Well, now he's getting his own custom-fit bulletproof vest along with three other Antioch Police Department dogs.

Thor, a Belgian Malinois, was shot in the shoulder by a burglary suspect in Antioch. The nine-year veteran of the department was eventually able to go back to work, but now he'll return to the line of duty with a little more safety and style.

The Cover Your K-9 Fund and Pet Food Express teamed up to provide the vests for the dogs. Thor is scheduled to get his on April 19 at 3 p.m. at the Antioch Police Department.
