Imagine how your teeth would look and feel if you didn’t brush them daily. The same applies to your pets’ teeth. Bad breath and stained teeth are unappealing, but many pet owners aren’t aware that these may be symptoms of serious gum disease. Unless you are regularly providing some form of dental care, you are neglecting an important factor in the overall health of your pet.
Proactive dental cleanings are essential to prevent oral health problems in our pet population. Without regular cleanings, plaque and calculus will spread under the gum line causing gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and periodontitis (loss of bone and soft tissue around the teeth).
Alternatives for Animal's anesthesia-free cleanings are done only under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian who recommends this procedure as appropriate. Their seven step process provides a thorough cleaning both above and below the gum-line. This procedure is not intended as a replacement for anesthetic dental cleaning.
Dental Intake $195 - Initial intake exam and cleaning for owners whose pets have never before been a client.
Dental Recheck less than 3 months $97.50 - Existing clients whose pet has been seen within the last 3 months at the time of the next appointment.
Dental Recheck greater than 3 months $195 - Existing clients whose pet has not been seen within the last 3 months, as of the scheduled time of the next appointment.
Antiobiotics are available by request or prescribed as necessary. Fee ranges between $16 - $22 depending on weight of pet .
These non anesthetic dental cleanings will be actively supervised by a licensed veterinarian and performed by a dental technician. The veterinarian will perform an examination on the pet before and after the procedure; technicians will scale the front and back of the teeth as well as go under the gum line to remove any tartar build up and will finish by polishing the teeth. No dental radiographs or extractions will be performed with this procedure. The pet's guardian is required to remain in the store for the duration of the cleaning (20-30 minutes).
Disclaimer - This procedure cannot be provided for cats at Danville or Campbell locations. Please contact Alternatives for Animals for more information.
