Walking the dog or dogs in the evening, is something they look forward to, and something that is good for you. It is good exercise for everyone and burns off excess energy in the dogs, and gives you a chance to unwind from a long day. Whether walking your dog, or throwing a ball for them, be cautious not to have them exercise excessively right before or right after they eat. Some conditions such as bloat, have been linked to hard exercise too soon before or after eating.
Once you are all ready to go walk or play, make sure that both you and your pets are wearing some kind of reflective gear or carrying a light. Check out your nearest Pet Food Express for our pet night time safety items such as reflective collars, lighted vests and the Pup lights and Atomic leashes. And don’t forget the cats. If your cat goes outside, a reflective collar is a very good safety idea for them.
Also consider walking your pets in well lit areas in your downtown areas, or perhaps the local indoor mall is dog friendly, and would serve as an alternative exercise area in inclement weather.
Stay active, stay safe, and enjoy what the evenings have to offer.
