Jenny Magill Positive Dog Training

Trainer: Jenny Magill

Jenny has always felt a powerful bond with and compassion for animals. During childhood, her mother's Native American heritage and love of nature rubbed off at an early age, and she enjoyed growing up with fish, frogs, butterfly hatcheries, dogs, and a rat.

She earned bachelor's degrees from Vanderbilt University in Education and History, and she spent the next five years working in PR with nonprofits focused on poverty alleviation, child advocacy, and microfinance. In 2008, she adopted a tiny abandoned 3-week-old puppy, Dozer, and she became an active volunteer and foster parent for a local rescue organization. She found that she had a talent successfully working with dogs with abuse histories and behavioral challenges, and her interest in dog training began to grow.

Since then, Jenny has worked at the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago; at Petco as a customer advisor and head trainer; and in starting and building her own training business. In September 2013, Jenny moved to Pasadena, and she enjoys training new clients and building her knowledge and experience in the Los Angeles area.

Class Descriptions and Pricing
All classes are $110 for 6 weekly 60 min classes

Puppy Level One (under 6 months): The first few months of a puppy’s life are critical for socialization, bonding, and learning! Puppy Level 1 class covers basic commands (Sit, Down, Stay, etc.) along socialization and addressing common puppy behaviors (Chewing, Barking, Potty Training, Jumping, etc.) Set your pup on the path to success from the very beginning.

Adult Level One over 6 months): Adult Level 1 class is perfect for almost every dog who is fairly new to structured training, especially newly adopted dogs. This class covers basic commands such as Sit, Down, Stay, Leave It, and Loose Leash Walking, along with common behavioral issues and a few fun tricks.

Level 2/Advanced: Advanced Level 2 class is ideal for dogs who have already completed Level 1 training, or for dogs who have a basic competency with training and commands but need to improve their consistency and skills. This class covers commands such as Heel, Up, Place, and Distance/Prolonged Stay, along with circuit training and many more fun tricks.

AKC Canine Good Citizen: The American Kennel Club offers the Canine Good Citizen Program to certify dogs that have good manners at home and in the community. CGC is a certification program that evaluates dogs in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere. Dogs that pass the CGC test are deemed to be reliable family and community members and will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. CGC certification is also a prerequisite for many therapy dog programs. This class will prepare you and your dog to successfully pass the CGC test, and the test cost is included in the class price.
