Trainer: Lisa Caper
Lisa has loved dogs since she was young, even pretending to overcome an allergy in order to convince her parents to let her adopt a German Shepherd when she was ten years old. Before becoming a dog trainer, Lisa was a Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years. This gives her a unique perspective into human as well as dog psychology, as she can easily “translate” between the two, to help owners understand their dogs’ personalities and form better relationships through training. Her goal as a trainer is to keep dogs out of shelters in two ways: 1.) By training puppies to be good dog citizens, thereby preventing behavioral issues later in life and 2.) By rehabilitating dogs with existing training or behavioral issues, including all types of aggression, who might otherwise be turned into shelters.
Lisa has completed several dog trainer programs, including Sirius Puppy Training classes, the Therapy Dog Program at The Bergin Institute in Santa Rosa, the Canine Behavioral Academy I & II, taught by Trish King at the Marin Humane Society and the Canine Trade Group Dog Trainer Program taught by John Van Olden. Lisa is also a Certified as an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator.
