Puppy (8weeks-5months): This class teaches the basics of obedience training. It is an introduction to the use of hand signals, verbal commands, and offers solutions to problematic behaviors to promote good manners. Cues such as sit, down, come, stay, loose-leash walking, and more will be taught in this class.
Beginner 1 (5+ months): This class is suited for dogs, with no training, that are five months or older. Class sessions will mostly focus on impulse-control techniques, such as leave-it, and stay. We will also cover the basics (sit, come, and walking) as well as address problematic behaviors such as jumping, chewing, and barking.
Beginner 2 (Puppy/Beginner 1, or equivalent): Test your dog further with more advanced commands such as wait, group exercises, and adding the 3Ds of stay: distractions, distance, and duration. This class will thoroughly challenge your dogs mind enabling them to display decision-making skills relevant to everyday life.
Advanced: (Beginner 2, or equivalent): This class will focus on combining cues learned in all previous classes to challenge your dogs mind further and prepare him/her for all real world circumstances. Upon completion of this class, expect your dog to have exceptional recall, proper manners, and be able to perform commands in large groups or crowds. Also, expect yourself to have total control of your dog in off-leash areas, and, most importantly, to have an all around wonderful dog as a family member!
Requirements: Dogs must be current on all vaccines appropriate to their age. I will require a copy of your dogs shot records from your veterinarian, mobile clinic, or other source, at the day of our first class. Payment of cash or check is to be paid in full on, or before, the first day of class. Before each class, be sure to have treats, a standard nylon or leather leash, a collar, and your dog! That’s all!
