Nose Work Fun Dog Training at Pet Food Express

Trainer: Josette Kimes

Josette Kimes has been training as a Nose Work Instructor with the founders of the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW) since 2009 and became a Certified Nose Work Instructor in 2011.  K-9 Nose Work © is a sport that uses your dog’s natural instincts for hunting to train your dog to identify and locate food/toy/odor. It is a competitive sport that uses a detection style training to motivate your dog to search. Josette enjoys introducing Nose Work to owners and dogs and watching the enjoyment both have working in this new sport. The owner learns handling and observations skills, dogs learn to hone their hunting skills and communicate to their owner. The owner and dog become a working team that enjoy searching in different environments. K-9 Nose Work© has 4 elements: Containers, Interiors, Exteriors and Vehicles.

You will love Nosework!  It is something you can do just about anywhere: in the city, in the mountains, in your back yard, and is great while traveling.  It mentally challenges your dog’s mind as nature would, and helps them to live a balanced life. It is using the dog’s natural skills of searching to work with you, and have fun together.

Josette has 3 Entlebucher mountain dogs, the smallest of the Swiss Mountain Dogs. Riley has competed and has a NW1 and NW2 title and is a Therapy Dog. Elsa has competed and earned her NW1, NW2, and NW3 Elite titles (the highest title) with multiple First Place Overall ribbons.  Polly is beginning her completion in 2015. Josette has owned several breeds, and rescues.

Josette is the owner of Nose Work Fun, is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), and is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator (CGC).  She is also member, breed committee member, and Event Co-chair of the National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Association (NEMDA).
