4 Paws 2 Freedom Dog Training

Dogs can be one of the greatest companions we have.  The relationship we build with our pets can help improve our health, our sense of well being, and prevent us from feeling so alone in this fast-paced world we live in.

With over 35 years of experience training dogs and coaching people to train their own dogs, Terry has a thorough background in canine behavior, teaching skills to both people and dogs, and understanding the relationship humans can have with their canine companions.

Classes will introduce you to training skills that will help you train your dog at home now and also in the future.  You will experience learning from a trainer who has been working with dogs and their people for a very long time…and still loves it!  You will learn from a trainer who appreciates the effort you are putting into training your dog and treats both you and your dog with kindness and respect.  You will see firsthand how positive motivational techniques work, and why they help create a bond between you and your dog.

Terry is the Master Dog Trainer at 4 Paws 2 Freedom, a nonprofit organization that teaches people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to train their own dog to become their certified service dog.  Terry is a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.

4 Paws 2 Freedom class Descriptions:

Our Companion Dog Classes help fund our Service Dog Program for Veterans so we can offer that service to them at no cost. Whenever you purchase one of our fun dog training classes you are actually helping a wounded warrior get a service dog!

Puppy School:

This class will teach you how to prevent problem behaviors; you will start training your puppy basic obedience skills, and begin the lifelong journey using positive motivational techniques.

Dr. Brenda Griffin: “For puppies, the single most important part of a behavioral wellness program is proper socialization during their critical developmental period, which ends by 16 weeks. Owners must begin socialization the day they bring their new puppies home, and the clock is ticking.”

Dr. Ian Dunbar: “The risks associated with attending puppy classes are minimal to nonexistent and the benefits are positively huge.”

Canine Manners:

In this course dogs of all ages and levels work side by side learning manners and developing skills while working at the best speed for both dog and human.

For a reasonable price, your dog can learn skills as basic as obedience all the way to off-leash work, Pet Therapy and more.

Our Canine Manners Course teaches:

• Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
• Community Canine/ Advanced CGC
• Urban Canine Good Citizen

New Tricks 4 Old Dogs

When we retire, most of us want to start doing the fun things we didn’t have time for when we were working or raising a family.  So, why is it we tend to relegate our older dogs to do nothing more than sleep their lives away?
Your older dog wants to engage in life with you!  They want to learn new things for fun and reward! Sure they might be a little slower on their paws than before, but don’t dismiss their ability and desire to learn!
This class teaches basics and fun tricks and games and offers tips and education on the challenges and rewards of living with a senior canine.

Service Dog Training for Veterans and First Responders with PTSD
